This beautiful home overlooking the ocean needed a fresh, updated look. We started this project by picking some vibrant fabrics to re-cover the existing cornice boxes. Adding grommet panels in the same fabric to the patio door gave a full punch of color to this amazing space but also allowed the client to open the panels to reveal a full view of the ocean through the patio door.

The windows in the breakfast nook also needed a punch of color but also protection from the sun when it is at its brightest. Custom made roman shades allowed the client to open and close the shades like a blind but also keep the look of a valance when it is up. A red and blue stripe was chosen to compliment the red and blue pattern in the family room. A fresh coat of paint with a faux finish helped bring both rooms together in a fun and sunny ocean side home.

Brine’s Decorating also re-upholstered some furniture for the family room. The first piece of furniture to get a “make-over” was the loveseat. A casual denim fabric was found to cozy up this little space while a fun pin stripe for the chair across the room added a punch of color directly below the bright cornice boxes.

Country Master Bedroom

This lovely home settled quietly in the country, needed a little help pulling the master bedroom together. With the striking patterns and bold colors in the loveseat, our designers needed to find fabrics to compliment the very busy furniture. We started with windows, finding a small plaid in a cranberry color to give vibrancy to the room. Layering the bed skirts with the same pattern from the windows plus a solid yellow color, gives the bedding a full fun look while the reversible duvet cover allows our client to change the look of the bedroom with just a flip of the blanket!

Toss cushions on a bed always add a fun way to finish the look. In this case, pulling the bed skirt and duvet colors up to the head of the bed ties all of the colors together. No country home would be complete without a few flowers. In this case, a couple of floral toss cushions were placed on the bed to complete this beautiful country bedroom.

Little Girls Bedroom

A beautiful bedroom for a lucky little girl… all done in her favorite colors!To make this pretty princess room, we started with two local artists, the first one, a faux finisher to give some texture to the walls and the second artist to paint a tree on the walls and cherubs on the ceiling. The floral coverlet set the tone for the room. Working with purple, green and cream from the coverlet, we found the perfect solid purple fabric for the gathered bed skirt and custom- made canopy. Her headboard, another custom-made piece of furniture, was designed to add softness to the bed, while coordinating the purples and creams together.

A wall-to-wall window seat was built to provide extra storage for toys and the upholstered seat provides another place to sit and play with her friends. A soft embroidered sheer valance hangs on the window to continue the floral theme throughout the room.

Boys Bedroom

Who says designer bedrooms are only for grown-ups! This little boy has a fun and decorative bedroom just for him. We started by surrounding him with his favorite things. A local artist was hired to paint the solar system on his ceiling and favorite cartoon characters on the walls.

His window was kept very simple with a large roman shade in a red and blue striped denim with plain blue denim grommet panels on each of the window to frame it. Then we made a bedspread with the same striped denim for the top bunk bed but toned it down with plain blue denim for the bottom bunk bed. We accessorized the room with reversible toss cushions and seat cushions using a mix of striped, blue and beige denim fabrics.

Dining Room

This formal dining room needed to be taken to the next level to achieve the elegance the owners were craving. Rich dark furniture combined with an exquisite crystal chandelier and the light blue and cream walls needed a delicate fabric and style to pull it all together. With sunlight still able to shine through the window, this pulled back pinch pleat drape added the elegance and formality without overpowering the room.

Family Room , Open Concept

In this “open concept” living space, the family room is open to the kitchen, breakfast nook and dining room.

When the owners asked us, “What would you do with his space?”; we knew immediately that we had to add fabric on the windows to soften the look of the room as well as absorb the echo created by the vaulted ceiling. Side panel drapes were chosen to fill the space between the windows while roman shades provided much needed privacy in the evenings. We added a hint of blue, (a wall color from the dining room) into the side panels and added toss cushions to the sofa and loveseat with the same blue hues as the panels.

Family Room, Summer House

This beautiful cottage overlooking the water felt a little bare to the owner. They wanted their ” summer escape” to feel like a trip to the beach. With nothing on the windows and some walls to repaint, we were basically given a clean canvass to work on. By adding long side panels in the open concept living room, we were able to create a warm and welcoming environment for this young family to enjoy. The soft blues and yellows from the curtains mimic the the playful strips in the custom slipcovers designed for the wingbacks. To carry our beach theme throughout this amazing space, we added more slipcovers at the dinning table and a big toss cushions on the creamy sofa.

Family Room Keeps the Tradition and Adds A View

A family room is often the most visited space in the home. Our client’s goal with this room was to maximize the marvelous view created by the large windows, as well as accentuate the beautifully crafted woodwork on the tray ceiling.

To achieve these goals, custom draperies were created to help frame the windows while we painted the custom drapery rod as to not take away from the beautiful existing woodwork. We also added two sided toss cushions as an easy way to change the look and mood of the room by simply turning the toss cushions over. Specific attention to detail was paramount in bringing the room together. The insides of the existing coffee tables were upholstered to compliment the colors of the room. The complementary colour scheme was chosen after all the fabrics and accessories had been selected.

With such a large space to work with, echoing was a main concern. To help prevent any unwanted reverberations, heavy fabrics were carefully chosen for both the curtains and large area rugs. Large furniture and toss cushions also serve to fill the extra space.

Converted Garage Becomes a Custom Designer Guest Suite

When creating a space for their guests, homeowners often want to put them at ease. Our main goal when designing this guest suite was to offer a cozy, warm and inviting space that gives guests a touch of “home away from home”. This project, completed in an incredible 4-week period, is the result of a complete transformation of an area that was previously a 3-car garage. The challenge here was to not only create an inviting space, but also to use appropriate furniture to complete the scheme of the room and fill such a large space accordingly. To achieve these goals we chose large-scale, luxurious furniture and accessories from some of the best brands available including Ralph Lauren, Robert Allen, Pride of Paris, and Joanne Fabrics.

New Grand Theatre IS the Coming Attraction

Created during the same 4-week period as the guest suite, this former unfinished basement received an extensive update, being transformed into a modern yet elegant grand theatre. While working within a restrictive budget, we worked closely with an established theatre installation company in accommodating the existing theatre equipment, ensuring that the viewing experience would not be compromised. The offset, multi-stage seating was designed specifically with this in mind, and offers a grand theatre effect that is guaranteed to impress the client’s visitors. Additional enhancements also add to the theme. An authentic popcorn machine and theatre-style curtains complete with masquerade mask give this space a genuine grand theatre theme.
